In the inherently subjective world of architecture, there are no shortage of opinions on what makes for the best architecture. Rather than leaving the definitive choice to a small group of elite judges, ArchDaily’s Building of the Year Awards are crowdsourced by readers. This year, 75,000 votes were cast for 3,000 projects around the world. Unsurprisingly, some of the industry’s heaviest hitters, like BIG, MVRDV and Herzog & de Meuron were recognized, but so were smaller firms like Supermachine Studio and Secondfloor Architecture. In total, winners in 16 categories, from major stadiums in the Sports Architecture idea-tags to cozy schools in Educational Architecture, were announced. See all of the winners here, and get inspired to create some of 2017’s best buildings!
